2021 Edition

Dear friends,

We are thrilled to confirm that the next Festival La Rochelle Cinéma (Fema) will take place from June 25 to July 4, 2021.

In order to welcome you to this 49th edition under the best possible conditions, we are working with the appropriate authorities to develop a sanitary protocol and specific physical arrangements, which you could see here.

In the meantime, we invite you to reserve your unlimited or multi-entry passes on Fema La Rochelle’s online ticket service and apply for your Press or Professional accreditation before June 18.

The full film program has just been published. We are especially happy to give preview screenings of 35 films that won our heart this year, by directors from throughout the world: Kelly Reichardt, Alexandre Koberidze, Alexandra Pianelli, Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, Kamen Kalev, Alexandre Rockwell, Mohammad Rasoulof, and many others.

On Friday, July 2, the date of Michael Cimino’s death in 2016, Fema La Rochelle invites you on a road trip, a journey across the America of the legendary director of The Deer Hunter, with 3 films and the preview screening of Jean-Baptiste Thoret’s documentary, Michael Cimino, un mirage américain.

Sigourney Weaver is not only the androgynous and athletic queen of science fiction, inseparable from her role as the badass heroine of Alien — but also the unforgettable businesswoman of the romantic comedy Working Girl. Saturday, July 3, spend a 5-film day with one of the greatest icons of pop culture! Ice creams served at midnight!

We will also celebrate the 60 years of Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique with the first films of six women directors brought to public attention there: Shirley Clarke, Julie Bertuccelli, Keren Yedaya, Julia Ducournau, Hafsia Herzi, and Chloé Mazlo.

Other events await you, with masterpieces “From yesterday till today,” a program of ciné-concerts, screenings of films produced by the Festival, and discussions with filmmakers and many other guests.

À très bientôt à La Rochelle,

The Festival team
